The Canadian Art Foundation, in collaboration with the Banff Centre and the Alberta College of Art and Design, proudly presented Polly Staple, director of London’s Chisenhale Gallery, as part of the Canadian Art International Lecture Series on October 24, 2008.

Staple’s lecture took place at the Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary, where she discussed her work as a curator, editor and writer. She also discussed significant shifts in the production and dissemination of contemporary art set against the backdrop of London’s current contemporary art scene.

Staple is the former editor-at-large of Frieze and has worked with contemporary artists on various projects at venues ranging from London artist-run galleries Cubitt and Studio Voltaire to the Frieze Projects curatorial program. Over the past 10 years, Staple has produced projects with artists including Pawel Althamer, Jeremy Deller, Aleksandra Mir, Paola Pivi, Martha Rosler and Lawrence Weiner. She writes criticism for publications including Frieze, Art Monthly and Afterall.
