Canadian Art magazine has special reason to celebrate the Governor General’s Awards in Visual and Media Arts this year: our longtime contributing editor Nancy Tousley was given an Outstanding Contribution Award for her 30-year career as a Calgary-based journalist and critic. Other awards went to Michael Morris, whose Polaroids book with Attila Richard Lukacs is featured in the “Readings” section of our Spring 2011 issue; filmmaker Barbara Sternberg; sculptor Kye-Yeon Son, who received the Saidye Bronfman Award for excellence in fine crafts; video artist David Rimmer; multimedia artist Geneviève Cadieux; conceptualist Robert Fones; and painter Shirley Wiitasalo. Here, a gallery of works by these winners.
