There are many great aspects to Canadian Art’s annual Gallery Hop—the thought-provoking Saturday-morning panel, the free tours and talks throughout galleries across the city in the afternoon, and, this year, an evening magazine launch at Mercer Union. But what’s also important is the fundraising gala that provides an annual base of support for Canadian Art—both the magazine and its national educational programs. Attended by patrons, curators, artists and dealers, and peppered with a live auction, a fabulous Jamie-Kennedy-catered dinner, specially commissioned artworks and, of course, lots of great cocktail chatter, the gala is always a good time for a great cultural cause. This portfolio of 12 images from this year’s event, held on September 24 at the KoolHaus in Toronto, shows some of the people seen on the scene.
