Sobey Finalists 2009: Graeme Patterson
Graeme Patterson became popular nationwide with “Woodrow,” a 2007 touring exhibition of his animatronic sculptures and stop-motion films that were inspired by life in the small Saskatchewan town where his grandparents resided. Since then, Patterson has branched out into other themes for his unique mix of sculpture, puppetry and filmmaking. In the 2009 Sobey Art Award, Patterson is representing the region of the Atlantic. This 10-image slide portfolio starts with some 2008 animal-themed photo works on view this fall at Galerie Simon Blais in Montreal, then segues into Patterson’s show “The Puppet Collective” that showed at Trépanier Baer Gallery in 2009. It ends with a film still from Patterson’s Sobey-show offering.
