POSTED: SEPTEMBER 21, 2012
Gallery Hop Toronto’s free tours and talks program on September 22 offers the opportunity to see several leading artists discussing their works first-hand.
At 1:30 p.m. at General Hardware Contemporary, artist John Armstrong will discuss his collaborative oil-on-photographic-print works created with Paul Collins. Contact Photography Festival artistic director Bonnie Rubenstein will join Armstrong in this discussion.
At 3 p.m. at Feheley Fine Arts, artist John Noestheden will discuss his experiences working with Shuvinai Ashoona alongside Art Gallery of Ontario curator Nancy Campbell.
At 3:15 p.m. at Jessica Bradley Inc., Shary Boyle, Canada’s representative at the 2013 Venice Biennale, will discuss her practice with Toronto Star art critic Murray Whyte.
At 3:30 p.m. at Stephen Bulger Gallery, New York–based photographer Alison Rossiter will chat about her latest exhibition “Lost and Found” with Canadian Art assistant editor David Balzer.
And at 4 p.m. at Birch Libralato, Luis Jacob will discuss the nature of “the picture” at his exhibition “Show Your Wound” with Canadian Art managing editor Bryne McLaughlin.
These are just a few of the talks on the roster—others by curator Lee-Ann Martin (at Gallery Gevik) and critic David Jager (who’s leading a tour of Parkdale galleries)—feature even more insights from art-world experts.
There’s also a compelling panel kicking off the day at 11 a.m. at the TIFF Bell Lightbox featuring artists Micah Lexier, Alain Paiement and Laurel Woodcock.
