Conversations from the Toronto Art World
October 2 to November 30, 2012
Tuesdays, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm
University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies
This fall, the Canadian Art Foundation, in collaboration with the School of Continuing Studies at the University of Toronto, is pleased to offer a second edition of the course Conversations from the Toronto Art World.
Organized and led by Shari Orenstein, each class will feature a guest lecture from a leading local artist, gallery owner, curator, arts journalist or critic.
Confirmed guest speakers for 2012 include Patrizia Libralato, Robert Birch, Micah Lexier, Daniel Faria, Celia Neubauer, Wil Kucey, Luke Painter, Steve Driscoll, Nicholas Metivier, Clint Roenisch, Sarah Milroy and Edward Burtynsky, among other art-world experts.
A dynamic class on graffiti and street art is one highlight. Other sessions will investigate the particular characteristics and mandates of Toronto’s public galleries, museums, commercial galleries and alternative spaces—both established and emerging—and explore how the city’s artistic communities and gallery districts have developed and continue to grow.
Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from the cultural producers who make Toronto’s art scene tick. Visit learn.utoronto.ca/courses/conversations-from-the-toronto-art-world for details on how to enroll.
