The Canadian Art Foundation invites applications from eligible art institutions across the country for its 2008 Youth Arts Bursary Program.
The program awards a total of $20,000 in project grants to Canadian public galleries and artist-run centres to fund innovative visual-arts education initiatives for youths aged 5 to 18. A maximum of $7,500 is awarded to each organization.
To date, the Youth Arts Bursary has been awarded to visual art institutions and community organizations in Winnipeg, Windsor, Ottawa, Halifax, Toronto, Vancouver and Kamloops.

YOUTH ARTS BURSARY APPLICATION GUIDELINES
Purpose
Provide project grants for youth-education initiatives.
Eligibility
• professional Canadian visual arts organizations (e.g. public galleries, artist-run centres)
• only new or enhanced programming will be considered
• events that have been completed before the deadline do not qualify for funding
• capital expenses, fundraising activities and professional development of educators are not eligible for program funding
• all projects supported by the Canadian Art Foundation must pay professional CARFAC fees to participating artists.
Selection
Bursaries will be awarded based on artistic merit, qualifications of artists and educators, and ability to carry out the project. Programs should involve youths aged 5 to 18. Consideration will be made for projects that include professional visual artists and provide arts education opportunities to young people with artistic promise and financial need.

• artist fees and per diem
• travel expenses
• material costs
• other funding sources
Support material
• artists' resumes (maximum 3 pages per artist)
• statement of support from school or community partner
• most recent financial statement
Deadline
Applications must be received by Friday, August 1, 2008, 5 pm (EST).
