Arts 101 Program

Arts 101 is a mentoring project that pairs a professional artist with an at-risk youth from Watari Youth (social service agency) to meet on a weekly basis in an art studio to create art projects based on the interests of the youth.

Collaborative Art Productions with Native Youth is an existing program created in response to the lack of Aboriginal arts and culture content in the School District's curriculum. The project will be enhanced by adding seven additional weekend workshops, which focus on traditional and contemporary First Nations art, and will be led by artists Meeka Morgan, Victoria Morgan, Rob Hall and Jayce Salloum.

The Canadian Art Youth Arts Bursary is a program of the Canadian Art Foundation which supports innovative youth-oriented visual-arts education projects. Project grants are awarded to public galleries and artist-run centres in Canada for youth education initiatives that involve youths aged 5-18. The Canadian Art Foundation awards a maximum of $10,000 in bursaries, with individual projects receiving a maximum grant of $5,000.
