Annie Pootoogook, Artist & Nancy Campbell, Curator

CALGARY: JANUARY, 2007

Annie Pootoogook, Artist
Nancy Campbell, Curator

Annie Pootoogook was joined in conversation by curator Nancy Campbell on the occasion of Pootoogook’s exhibition at the Illingworth Kerr Gallery. Pootoogook, born in Cape Dorset in 1969, takes subjects for her drawings and prints that challenge conventional assumptions about Inuit art. She is a chronicler, and her drawings of domestic settings and modern Arctic outposts reflect the disparate social, economic and physical realities of today’s Canadian North. Pootoogook is the winner of the prestigious Sobey Art Award (2006).

Presented in partnership with the Alberta College of Art + Design (ACAD).
