Apply now for the 2009 Canadian Art Editorial Residency
Students: Don’t miss your chance to spend the summer with Canadian Art!
The Canadian Art Editorial Residency is a $7,000, two-month national prize award for students of art and art history at Canadian universities and art colleges.
The prize provides students with an insider’s introduction to art magazines. The winner hones their writing and editorial skills at Canadian Art magazine throughout the summer, conducting research and producing book and exhibition reviews.
Last year’s winner, Whitney Light, says, “I got to see the behind-the-scenes process close up…it was a wonderful learning experience.” Whitney currently writes about contemporary art in Winnipeg’s entertainment weekly, Uptown magazine, and is a protege in the 2008/2009 Mentoring Artists for Women’s Art program in Winnipeg.
The prize is selected on the basis of a 500-word written exhibition review and one sample of recent academic writing on art.
The application deadline for this year is April 1, 2009. Send application packages to Canadian Art, 215 Spadina Avenue, Suite 320, Toronto, Ontario, M5T 2C7.
