Reel Artists Opening Night Video now Online!
In this video, taped on the opening night of the 2010 Reel Artists Film Festival in Toronto, Tamra Davis, director of Jean-Michel Basquiat: The Radiant Child, and David Koh, the film’s producer, join critic Sarah Milroy in conversation.
The film Jean-Michel Basquiat: The Radiant Child was screened at the opening night gala of the Canadian Art Reel Artists Film Festival on Wednesday, February 24, and re-screened for the public on Sunday, February 28, in Toronto. Opening night was the Canadian premiere of Davis’ feature about the legendary artist. Though Basquiat started out in graffiti, he quickly rose to fame in 1980s New York, creating distinctive paintings and befriending icons like Andy Warhol and Deborah Harry, to whom he sold his first painting. The artist died suddenly in 1988 at the age of 27.
