RBC Canadian Painting Competition

RBC Canadian Painting Competition

RBC, with the support of the Canadian Art Foundation, has just announced the jury panel for the 2010 RBC Canadian Painting Competition. The competition, which has an entry deadline of May 3, ensures that painters from across Canada receive consideration from nine distinguished members of the visual arts community.

The 2010 jury panel is made up representatives from every region of Canada. It consists of:

Paulette Gagnon, Director, Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal
Joe Friday, Collector, Ottawa
Joanne Tod, Artist, Toronto
Michael Gibson, Owner, Michael Gibson Gallery, London
Renée Van Halm, Artist, Vancouver
Jennifer Papararo, Curator, Contemporary Art Gallery, Vancouver
Mary Reid, Curator, Contemporary Art and Photography, Winnipeg Art Gallery

“The Canadian Art Foundation is pleased to work with RBC to deliver a top quality competition. Central to our role is the identification of expert judges from across the country who bring unique expertise to the selection process," said Ann Webb, executive director, Canadian Art Foundation. “Their knowledge about the visual arts and painting, in particular, serves the competition and entrants well.”

The national winner of the RBC Canadian Painting Competition will receive $25,000 and the two honourable mentions will each receive $15,000. All 15 semifinalists will also have their work exhibited in venues across the nation.
