The Canadian Art Foundation is delighted to announce a new young-patron initiative, the Canadian Art New Contemporaries. The group is designed specifically for youthful professionals and provides members with the opportunity to directly engage with artists, critics, curators and collectors through exclusive programs that will deepen their understanding of contemporary art.
The inaugural New Contemporaries event was held at the home of group co-chair Jennen Phelan on August 25, 2009. A lively assemblage of art-interested friends joined co-chairs Tatiana Read, Karelle Steiner and Emily Thring to learn about the Canadian Art Foundation and our new initiative. A local jazz trio also entertained the crowd.
The next New Contemporaries event will take place on October 23, 2009. On that date, members will take part in a special guided tour of the 10th annual Toronto International
Later in the year, New Contemporaries members will engage in artist studio visits, view private art collections and enjoy other fun, unique events.
