Staple’s lecture took place at the Alberta College of Art and Design, where she discussed her work as a curator, editor and writer. She also discussed significant shifts in the production and dissemination of contemporary art set against the backdrop of London’s current contemporary art scene.
Staple is the former editor-at-large of Frieze and has worked with contemporary artists on various projects at venues ranging from London artist-run galleries Cubitt and Studio Voltaire to the Frieze Projects curatorial program, where she organized Frieze Commissions and “The Artists Cinema” in collaboration with LUX. She also directed the Frieze Talks program, which featured such cultural figures as Marina Abramovic, Zaha Hadid and Jacques Rancière.
Over the past 10 years, Staples has produced projects with artists including Pawel Althamer, Jeremy Deller, Manon de Boer, Liam Gillick, Loris Gréaud, Aleksandra Mir, Paola Pivi, Martha Rosler and Lawrence Weiner.
