Allyson Mitchell 25th Anniversary Video Talk Now Online

Released September 21 2009

As part of Canadian Art magazine’s 25th anniversary celebrations, video interviews were conducted with artists, curators, gallerists and other key individuals to get their feedback on the magazine and the national art scene it reflects. Revealing, entertaining and engaging, these interviews will be posted daily during the week of the 2009 Canadian Art Gallery Hop.

The first interview be posted features Toronto artist Allyson Mitchell. In this video, Mitchell explains how, having not been to art school, Canadian Art taught her about the names, faces and trends in art across the country. Her work has been featured on the magazine’s cover and her first large-scale commission was for the annual Canadian Art Gallery Hop Gala. Listen in as Mitchell describes the profound impact of these experiences on her career and her family’s relationship to her art.
