Voices
Art writers play an essential role in any art scene. They are the bridge to wider audiences, and their words launch artists and
their works into cultural and intellectual circulation. Toronto’s national media voices have a tendency to eschew the local in
favour of the nationwide, but the art voices of publications like the Globe and Mail, the National Post, the Toronto Star, NOW
and Eye Weekly tread a more complex path that meshes local coverage with informed, opinionated art criticism. Among them,
they create a lively and multi-faceted discourse that leaves artists and readers wanting more.
