Imagecraft
Contemporary art has been redefined by the explosion of new technologies for image-making. Photography, video and
projection-based artworks now dovetail with digital production methods in the creation of objects and experiences that can
seem far from the traditional image-delivery systems of painting and drawing. This new imagecraft is based on media that
are geared to streaming delivery of images and the immersion of audiences in a unitary flow of content. But while the art
operates with the language, look and apparent intent of the mass media, it carries an individualized subjective zone that
holds conventions at arm’s length and brings them, reinvented, into an arena of human access and critical interpretation.
